The Current is a radio news magazine show on the Canadian Broadcast System.
On Jan 24th, 2008 they broadcasted a documentary about the now infamous 1971 Stanford Prison Experiment, where a psychologist at Stanford University named Phil Zimbardo gathered 20 perfectly healthy and mentally stable young volunteers and divided them randomly into prisoners and guards. The experiment was designed to see how people's behaviours changed due to expected roles. Unexpectedly, the experiment had to be halted after the guards began to humiliate and torment the prisoners.
